ABOUT US:
WHO ARE WE?
The Hungarian Youth Conference Association (MIK) is the highest-level conciliation forum for the Hungarian youth in Hungary and abroad, which was established on the initiative of the Hungarian Government in Budapest on November 27th, 1999 with extensive participation from Hungarian and expatriate organizations as well.
To this day, the basic goal of the organization is to be the highest-level conciliation forum for young people, thus forming the youth branch of the Permanent Hungarian Conference. The aim of MIK is to involve the Hungarian youth in shaping the national youth policy.
Through this, the moral, material, professional political, and diplomatic support of Hungarian youth communities living beyond the borders of Hungary can also be promoted. Another objective is the dialogue between domestic and foreign youth organizations and the coordination of professional development meetings, and the promotion of cross-border programs and events.
The aim of the joint work is to give as many young Hungarians as possible the opportunity to participate in the programs and events implemented by the organizations. On May 4th, 2016, MIK finally became an independent legal entity.
It currently has 45 member organizations from 10 regions, the members of which are associations such as youth organizations of parties, student groups, scout associations, youth organizations of churches, non-governmental organizations. You can read more about this on the Regions page.
